Calgary, AB – The Calgary Flames announced today the signing of defenseman Brett Carson.
“Based on his solid play at the end of last season, we believe Brett can be an every day defenseman for us,” said Flames General Manager Jay Feaster. “In our end-of-season meetings a number of our top forwards commented on his consistent ability to get the puck to them in transition, and we are confident he will continue to develop his overall game.”

Originally drafted by the Hurricanes in the 4th round (109th overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, Carson is a former Calgary Hitmen having played for them from 2002-06. He has spent parts of the last three seasons in the NHL accumulating two goals and 10 assists for 12 points and 20 penalty minutes in 78 games.
