GLENDALE, ARIZONA – Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have signed forwards Brett MacLean, Kyle Chipchura, Marc-Antoine Pouliot and Mathieu Beaudoin each to a one-year, two-way contract. As per club policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.
The 6-foot-1, 200 pound MacLean recorded 2-1-3 and two penalty minutes (PIM) in 13 games with the Coyotes this past season. The 22-year-old of Port Elgin, Ontario scored his first career NHL goal in his first career NHL game vs. the Los Angeles Kings on Dec. 29, 2010. MacLean also registered 23-27-50 and 28 PIM in 51 games with the San Antonio Rampage (AHL) during the 2010-11 season.
MacLean was originally drafted by the Coyotes in second round (32nd overall) in the 2007 Entry Draft.
The 6-foot-2, 207 pound Chipchura recorded two assists and 32 PIM in 40 games with the Anaheim Ducks in 2010-11. The 25-year-old native of Westlock, Alberta has recorded 10-18-28 and 119 PIM in 163 career NHL games with the Ducks and Montreal Canadiens.
Chipchura was originally drafted by the Canadiens in the first round (18th overall) in the 2004 Entry Draft.
The 6-foot-2, 193 pound Pouliot appeared in three games with the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2010-11. The 26-year-old native of Quebec City, Quebec has recorded 21-32-53 and 74 PIM in 179 career NHL games with the Lightning and Edmonton Oilers. Pouliot was acquired from the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for the Coyotes’ 201st overall selection in the 2011 Entry Draft on June 24.
Pouliot was originally drafted by the Oilers in first round (22nd overall) in the 2003 Entry Draft.
The 5-foot-11, 190 pound Beaudoin registered 21-30-51 and 24 PIM in 63 games to lead the San Antonio Rampage in scoring this past season. The 27-year-old native of Rock Forest, Quebec has recorded 51-64-115 and 67 PIM in 190 career AHL games with the Rampage, Texas Stars, Houston Aeros, Milwaukee Admirals, Hershey Bears, Rochester Americans and Iowa Chops. He led the Texas Stars to the Calder Cup Final in 2010, recording 4-3-7 in 22 playoff games.
