ST. LOUIS (Sept. 23, 2010) - Dave Checketts, Chairman of SCP Worldwide and the St. Louis Blues, today announced that Peter McLoughlin, CEO of Blues Enterprises, is leaving the organization to become president of the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League.
Mike McCarthy, a partner with SCP Worldwide and vice chairman of the Blues, has been named interim CEO of Blues Enterprises. A national search will be conducted to identify candidates to fill the position on a permanent basis. Blues Enterprises was formed in 2006 to manage all business operations of the Blues, Scottrade Center and Peabody Opera House, including sales, marketing, finance and building operations.
As vice chairman since 2008 and part of SCP Worldwide since its purchase of the Blues, McCarthy has been charged with overseeing the day-to-day hockey and business operations for the Blues, Scottrade Center and Peabody Opera House. He has also played an integral role in formation of the organization’s senior management team that includes several key executives whom he worked closely with during their respective tenures at Madison Square Garden.
“Peter was a charter member of our ownership and management team in the summer of 2006, and his accomplishments since that time are evident in everything from our naming rights partnership with Scottrade to the effective campaigns that have reconnected fans and the corporate community with the Blues,” Checketts said. “Peter leaves us as a friend, and his contributions will be always be appreciated and respected.
“We’re also very fortunate throughout SCP Worldwide and our properties, such as the Blues, to have a wealth of sports, entertainment and business expertise. Mike McCarthy represents that expertise as well as anyone in North America. The Blues, Scottrade Center and Peabody Opera House and the entire St. Louis community are in excellent hands with Mike serving as interim CEO of Blues Enterprises.”
McCarthy, an NHL alternate governor for the Blues, played an instrumental role in SCP Worldwide’s purchase of the Peoria Rivermen, the Blues’ top minor league affiliate that competes in the American Hockey League. He is also chairman of SCP’s highly acclaimed sports, entertainment and media production company, Tupelo Honey Productions.
Prior to joining SCP Worldwide, McCarthy served as president of Madison Square Garden Networks Group, a position he held during his 23-year career with the organization. During his tenure, McCarthy oversaw the sports and news production and programming that led to 75 Emmy Awards and 250 Emmy Award Nominations.
