Colorado Calls Up Chris Stewart

The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club announced today that forward Chris Stewart has been recalled from the Lake Erie Monsters, the team’s American Hockey League affiliate. He will be available for tonight’s game against the Dallas Stars.
It’s Stewart’s first career NHL call-up in the regular season after spending the last two seasons in Lake Erie where he has compiled 11 points (5g/6a) in 19 games played this year. During the 2007-2008 campaign, Stewart’s first full year as a pro, he recorded 44 points (25g/19a) in 77 games at Lake Erie. Stewart was recalled by Colorado during the 2008 playoffs, but did not dress.

Blackhawks Announce 2nd Annual Fan Convention

The Chicago Blackhawks have announced today the team will hold its second annual Chicago Blackhawks Fan Convention at the Hilton Chicago (720 S. Michigan Ave.) on Fri., July 17; Sat., July 18 and Sun., July 19, 2009.
Fans interested in attending can begin making reservations through the Chicago Hilton on Thu., Dec. 11, 2009, by calling (800) 445-8667. Additional Blackhawks Convention details will be posted at chicagoblackhawks.com as they become available.
Last year, the Inaugural Chicago Blackhawks Fan Convention, the first of its kind in the National Hockey League, sold out in less than two weeks and entertained over 10,000 fans. It included Blackhawks Hall of Famers Bobby Hull, Stan Mikita and Tony Esposito, along with General Manager Dale Tallon and current players Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews, while Blackhawks and National Television Analyst Eddie Olczyk served as honorary chairman.
For the second consecutive year, both current Blackhawks players and alumni will be in attendance throughout the weekend of the fan convention, which will include autograph and photo sessions; Q&A session; exhibits and interactive games and much more.

Coyotes Acquire Joakim Lindstrom from Anaheim in Exchange for Stephenson

GLENDALE, ARIZONA—Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have acquired forward Joakim Lindstrom from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for defenseman Logan Stephenson. Lindstrom will join the Coyotes’ American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the San Antonio Rampage.
Lindstrom, 24, has recorded 7-14-21 and 33 penalty minutes (PIM) in 21 games this season for the Iowa Chops of the AHL, tying him for the team-lead in points. In 2007-08, Lindstrom split the season between the NHL and AHL, collecting 3-4-7 in 25 games for the Columbus Blue Jackets and recording 25-35-60 in 49 games with Syracuse. He established both NHL and AHL career-highs in goals, assists and points last season.

Oilers Recall Schremp

General Manager Steve Tambellini announced today the Edmonton Oilers have recalled centre Rob Schremp from the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League.
The 5’11”, 200 pound forward from Syracuse, New York is the leading scorer for Springfield this season with 18 points in 18 games. The 22-year-old has scored one goal and a team-leading 17 assists in 18 games with the Falcons and is +5 with 10 penalty minutes. His 17 assists ranks him seventh in the American Hockey League with five of the 17 helpers coming on the powerplay.

Roster Moves Made By Ducks

ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has recalled defenseman Brett Festerling from the Iowa Chops, Anaheim’s primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL). In addition, the Ducks have reassigned goaltender David LeNeveu to Iowa.

Capitals Recall Helmer

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Washington Capitals have signed defensemen Bryan Helmer and recalled him from the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL), vice president and general manager George McPhee announced today.
Helmer, 36, is a 6’1”, 215-pound 16-year pro from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. He is the Bears captain and is second among team defensemen with eight assists. He has also recorded 14 penalty minutes in 21 games this year.

Columbus Puts Dorsett On IR

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have placed forward Derek Dorsett on Injured Reserve and recalled defenseman Kris Russell from the Syracuse Crunch, the club’s American Hockey League affiliate, Blue Jackets General Manager Scott Howson announced tonight.
Dorsett suffered a hand injury in tonight’s game vs. the Phoenix Coyotes and will be sidelined indefinitely. In 12 games with the Jackets this season, he has registered one goal and one assist for two points with a team-leading 63 penalty minutes.
