GLENDALE, ARIZONA—Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have assigned forward Kevin Porter to their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the San Antonio Rampage.
Porter, 22, has recorded 5-5-10 in 25 games this season for the Coyotes and has scored two game-winning goals. He also registered his first career point (assist) while making his NHL debut in the Coyotes’ season-opening win over Columbus on Oct. 11.
TAMPA BAY – The Tampa Bay Lightning have reassigned right wing Steve Downie to Norfolk of the American Hockey League, it was announced by Executive Vice President & General Manager Brian Lawton.
ARLINGTON, Va. – The Washington Capitals have recalled forward Oskar Osala from the American Hockey League’s (AHL) Hershey Bears and reassigned Keith Aucoin and Bryan Helmer to Hershey, vice president and general manager George McPhee announced today.
Osala (OH-sah-lah), 20, is a first-year pro who stands 6’4”, 225 pounds. He has played in 26 games for Hershey this year and is second on the team and third in the league (first among rookies) with 16 goals. His 22 points rank sixth on the team and he shares the AHL lead at +17.
The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has signed left wing Eric Tangradi to a three-year entry-level contract. Per club policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Tangradi, 19 (2/10/89), has appeared in 32 contests with the Belleville Bulls of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) this season, collecting 20-26=46 points with 41 penalty minutes (PIM).
The Chicago Blackhawks have recalled left wing Pascal Pelletier (5-11, 191) from the American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs and have placed right wing Adam Burish on Injured Reserve. In addition, the Blackhawks have acquired defenseman Jimmy Sharrow (6-2, 198) from the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for a conditional draft choice and have assigned him to Rockford.
Pelletier, 25, leads Rockford with 13 goals – which includes seven in his last six contests – and ranks second with 21 points in 23 games this season. He shares third in the AHL with a team-high seven power-play markers. Pelletier was acquired by the Blackhawks from the Boston Bruins in exchange for center Martin St. Pierre on July 24, 2008.

Lindstrom, 25, was acquired from the Anaheim Ducks on Dec. 3 and has recorded 1-1-2 in his first three games with San Antonio. Prior to the trade, he had registered 7-14-21 and 33 penalty minutes (PIM) in 21 games for the Iowa Chops of the AHL.
BUFFALO, NY (December 6, 2008) – Buffalo Sabres GM Darcy Regier announced today the Sabres have recalled C Nathan Gerbe from Portland (AHL). In addition, the Sabres have returned RW Mark Mancari to Portland.
In just his first professional season, Gerbe (7/24/1987, 5’6”, 160 lbs.) is currently second on the Pirates in scoring with 24 points (14+10) in 21 games. Included in his goal totals are 7 PP tallies and a pair of game winners. Gerbe also has 25 PIMs and has taken a team-high 91 shots.
A native of Oxford, Michigan, Gerbe played three seasons at Boston College. Last season he led the nation in scoring with 68 points (35+33) in 43 games, while leading the Eagles to an NCAA Championship. Gerbe was a Hobey Baker finalist, and was named USA Hockey’s National College Player of the Year. Gerbe was selected in the fifth round (142nd overall) in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
ARLINGTON, Va. – The Washington Capitals have recalled defenseman Sean Collins from the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL), vice president and general manager George McPhee announced today.
Collins, 25, signed with the Capitals as a free agent on March 17, 2007. He has played 13 games with Hershey this year and has four assists. Collins split last year between Hershey and the South Carolina Stingrays of the ECHL. He staked in 12 games for Hershey and in 31 for South Carolina, totaling 14 points (1g-13a) in the ECHL. Collins led Stingray defensemen with nine points (1g-8a) in 20 playoff games, as the team advanced to the Kelly Cup semifinals.
The Troy, Mich., native played at Ohio State for four years from 2003-07 and served as the Buckeyes’ captain during his senior year. He totaled 87 points (28g-59a) in 157 college games.
FRISCO, Tex. - The Dallas Stars announced today that the club has recalled center Tom Wandell from Timra IK in the Swedish Elite League.
Wandell, 21, has skated in 28 games with Timra this season, recording 11 goals and 13 assists for 24 points with 18 penalty minutes. He is tied for first on the club in both goals and points, and is second in assists. Among all players in the Swedish Elite League, he is tied for eighth in goals, tied for 10th in scoring and tied for 16th in assists.
The native of Sodertalje, Sweden, played the AHL Iowa Stars last season, posting 19 points (10 goals, 9 assists) and 16 penalty minutes in 53. Wandell added three goals in three games with the ECHL Idaho Steelheads in 2007-08. In 50 games with Assat Pori in the Finnish Elite League in 2006-07, the 6-1, 185-pound center collected 12 points (6 goals, 6 assists) and 20 PIM.
Dallas’ fifth-round pick (No. 154 overall) in the 2005 Draft, Wandell skated for Team Sweden at the 2004 World Under-18 Championships and the 2006 Four Nations Cup.
ARLINGTON, Va. – The Washington Capitals hosted their second annual Dollar Dog Night, presented by Esskay, on Thursday, Dec. 4, at Verizon Center. Capitals fans consumed 13,700 hot dogs, breaking the record from last year when 12,000 hot dogs were consumed.
The Capitals hosted two hot dog eating contests Thursday night. Jason Battle from Catholic University won the second annual Caps Collegiate Hot Dog Eating Contest, which was held on the concourse before the game. Five contestants representing several local colleges and universities competed; Battle ate seven hot dogs in three minutes to win.
