SPRINGFIELD, Mass. … The American Hockey League today announced a five-year officiating development agreement with the National Hockey League which will continue to see the AHL serve as the top development league for the NHL’s referees through 2014-15.
Under the terms of the agreement, the NHL and AHL officiating departments will continue to work together in all aspects of recruitment, training and development of on-ice officials. NHL-contracted referees will continue to be assigned to officiate approximately one-third of American Hockey League games each season, with the balance of AHL games to be worked by AHL-contracted referees who have been identified as top officiating prospects.
NEW YORK—The National Hockey League and the National Hockey League Players’ Association today announced that Compuware Corporation has signed a multi-year corporate marketing agreement to become “The Official Global Application Performance Partner of the NHL and NHLPA.” The corporate marketing partnership gives Compuware access to the NHL’s multi-platform, global marketing and branding solutions with which to reach buyers of Compuware’s leading business-to-business software applications and technical services.
NEW YORK (November 24, 2008) – The National Hockey League (NHL) today announced a marketing alliance with the Champions Hockey League (CHL), the newly formed European club championship under the authority of the International Ice Hockey Federation.
The CHL began play on October 8, 2008 in 12 European markets. Based on early success, the pan-European league is already scheduled to expand to 22 markets for next season.
Following the NHL’s participation in September’s Victoria Cup, a pre-season tournament in Bern, Switzerland which featured the New York Rangers and two CHL clubs, the two leagues began discussing further cooperation on various marketing initiatives which has led to the new alliance.
The leagues have agreed to form a working group to look at the future of the Victoria Cup, explore other competition formats between the leagues, create joint promotional and sales efforts and develop other cooperative initiatives to foster growth in hockey across North America, Europe and worldwide.
TORONTO/NEW YORK (October 28, 2008) - Per an agreement between the National Hockey League and NHL Players’ Association, the 2008-09 trade deadline will be 3:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday, March 4, 2009.
