Nashville/Atlanta Trade

Nashville, Tenn. (September 1, 2010) – Nashville Predators President of Hockey Operations/General Manager David Poile announced today that the club has acquired defenseman Grant Lewis from the Atlanta Thrashers in exchange for forward Ian McKenzie.

        Lewis, 25 (1/20/85), split the 2009-10 season between the American Hockey League’s Chicago Wolves and Hershey Bears, and appeared in one postseason contest during the Bears’ run to the 2010 Calder Cup. The 6-3, 190-pound blueliner, who also played on the Wolves’ 2008 Calder Cup-winning team, has posted 44 points (3g-41a) and 145 penalty minutes in 133 AHL contests since turning pro in 2007. He has also appeared in one NHL game with the Thrashers on March 3, 2009 vs. Florida.

Columbus Acquires Jordan LaVallee-Smotherman

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have acquired left wing Jordan LaVallee-Smotherman from the Atlanta Thrashers in exchange for future considerations, club General Manager Scott Howson announced today.  He was then assigned to the Syracuse Crunch, the club’s American Hockey League affiliate.

LaVallee-Smotherman, 23, was Atlanta’s fifth pick, 116th overall, in the 2005 Entry Draft.  He has collected one goal and one assist for two points and is +1 in four career NHL games with the Thrashers and has spent most of the past three seasons playing with the AHL’s Chicago Wolves.  He has registered 39-34-73 and 167 penalty minutes in 140 career AHL games, including a career-high 20-22-42 and 73 penalty minutes in 76 games in 2007-08.

Bogosian Recalled By Thrashers

The Atlanta Thrashers have recalled defenseman Zach Bogosian from the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League, according to Executive Vice President and General Manager Don Waddell.

Bogosian, 18, appeared in five games with the Wolves after being assigned for conditioning on Jan. 3. He scored his first professional goal in his first game with Chicago on Jan. 3 at Rockford.
