Sabres, Wild Open Preseason Tonight, Will Test 3-on-3 OT

The Sabres and Wild will open their preseason schedules tonight in Minnesota, and there will be a twist at the end of regulation.

Regardless of the final score, the teams will play a 5-minute, sudden-death 3-on-3 OT period as part of the NHL's test drive of the new format intended to reduce the number of shootouts.

Sabres, Wild Deny Enroth To Minny Rumors

There have apparently been some rumblings in league circles that the Buffalo Sabres and Minnesota Wild are discussing a possible trade that would send goaltender Jhonas Enroth to Minnesota.

Hockey Night in Canada's Elliotte Friedman talked about the Enroth rumor last night, saying both teams are denying it.

Report: Sabres “Trying To Trade Halak To The Wild”

Michael Russo of the Star Tribune is reporting that Sabres GM Tim Murray is negotiating with close friend and Minnesota GM Chuck Fletcher on a deal that would send Jaroslav Halak to the Wild.

Halak, recently acquired in the trade for Ryan Miller, is set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer.

Keeping Halak past the trade deadline without a contract for next season wouldn't make much sense for Murray, who just dealt the Sabres franchise goaltender in large part for the same reason.
