Sabres Not In On Jagr, Says His Agent

The reports you've been reading linking the Sabres as a possible destination for Jaromir Jagr are not true.

I spoke moments ago with former Sabres defenseman and now Jagr's agent Petr Svoboda, and he told me that the Sabres have not expressed interest to him about his client.

"No, they did not (contact us)," Svoboda said.

When I brought up the Czech report linking the Sabres as one of the teams in the mix, Svoboda's response was: "It's a guessing game I think, you know?", implying that the rumor mill has gotten a bit out of hand with this one.

Jagr has just played in a Stanley Cup Final.  The Sabres are rebuilding.  Whoever perpetuated this rumor is clearly having too much fun with his hand on his crotch.

I dunno.  Jagr did sign with Dallas last year.  That sort of came out of the blue.  And the year before that it was all Pittsburgh or Detroit, Detroit or Pittsburgh?  And then Philly swooped in.  Who knows where the guy will sign.

About The Sabres Observer

Dave Davis has covered the Buffalo Sabres for various NHL accredited websites and newspapers since 2003.  He was the senior writer and Sabres correspondent for The Fourth Period, covered hockey for Western New York Sports and Leisure Magazine, and has had articles featured on NHL.com, FOX Sports, Yahoo Sports and in New York Sportscene.  Sabres news and notes can be found on his Twitter page.

Davis originally garnered media attention in 2002 as leader of a lobbying campaign working in unison with potential buyer Mark Hamister attempting to secure state financing to keep the Sabres in Buffalo.  In 2004, Davis was briefly back on the airwaves - this time reaching the finals of the inaugural "WGR Rookie" sports talk competition.  After a few years of "syndicating" his articles on various sites, along with doing some internet radio work, Davis now devotes his new media efforts to bringing quality Sabres related opinions and content to Kukla's Korner.
