Report: Flyers Have Inquired About Vanek

A piece today from The Fourth Period featured the Flyers and what GM Paul Holmgren has been up to as the Wednesday trade deadline approaches.

One of the players in whom he reportedly has shown interest is Sabres forward Thomas Vanek.

Flyers GM Paul Holmgren has kicked the tires on Anaheim Ducks sniper Bobby Ryan, Phoenix Coyotes defenseman Keith Yandle, Dallas Stars right wing Jaromir Jagr and Buffalo Sabres star Thomas Vanek.

While I would file Vanek playing in a Philly jersey under the "not likely" category, it's easy to see why the Flyers would want him.  Plus, despite some reports that Vanek is off the table, Darcy Regier has made it pretty clear that he is listening to offers for anyone and everyone.

I think this is whats making the Wings fans so unfuriated with Holand
At least for me, its frustating to see everyone else running for upgrades (REAL upgrades, top 3 forward or top pair D), while our team is happy getting Helm back sometime next year

Vanek could give a much needed offensive spark to any team. I’d trade almost the whole farm for him.
