Less Than 4 Games For Kaleta Is Asking For Trouble

Brendan Shanahan has to make a decision on the nasty Patrick Kaleta hit from behind on Brad Richards which took place during the Rangers 3-2 shootout win over the Sabres last night. The Buffalo forward has a 3:00 p.m. hearing by phone.
If you're looking for some irrational defense of the hit from a big fan of the team, you won't get it here. There's no excuse for what Kaleta did, and any talk of whether or not Richards did some acting after he landed on the ice is ridiculous and irrelevant.
It's really a shame that Kaleta occasionally resorts to this garbage. He does have a lot of value on this Sabres team. On a club known for not having enough of a sandpaper mentality, he still has a way of driving top opposing players crazy. He's also become a better penalty killer and seems fearless about throwing himself in front of shots.
I don't know if Shanahan looks at the schedule when determining suspensions, but he's asking for trouble if Kaleta doesn't get at least 4 games. The Sabres play 3 times between now and a rematch with the Rangers in Buffalo on March 12th.
