BREAKING: Sabres Fire Lindy Ruff

The Buffalo Sabres have announced that Lindy Ruff has been relieved of his duties.  More to follow.

well ruff is a good guy… but the sabres needed a change for sure.

Pittsburgh didn’t fire Bylsma when they occasionally struggled while Crosby was injured – so how can Buffalo possibly justify showing Ruff the door when Leino hasn’t even laced up the skates once this season?

The penguins actually did not struggle without Crosby.  Malkin lead the way.

Ruff and Trotz have been with their teams since ice was invented. Trotz is still winning. Buffalo threw a pile of money at roster players, intending to make them stars, and it didn’t work. Sometimes fresh hot air makes a difference.

Ruff will land on his feet. He’s a hell of a coach.

I guess I am not surprised, this is a case that either Regier loses his job or Ruff loses his. I guess the org chart won out. Ruff is gone!

Dave Davis has covered the Buffalo Sabres for various NHL accredited websites and newspapers since 2003.  He was the senior writer and Sabres correspondent for The Fourth Period, covered hockey for Western New York Sports and Leisure Magazine, and has had articles featured on NHL.com, FOX Sports, Yahoo Sports and in New York Sportscene.  Sabres news and notes can be found on his Twitter page.
