Helm says he's playing tonight.— Chuck Pleiness (@wingsfrontman) January 20, 2014
Darren Helm's return to the line up tonight could be the energy boost that the Detroit Red Wings have missed. Coming off of a game of bizarre puck luck the addition of Helm will be another step in the right direction for Detroit.
Shortly before the game the Red Wings announced that Pavel Datsyuk would miss the game in Dallas with a lower body injury.
It wouldn’t take long for Henrik Zetterberg to score the opening goal of the game to give the visitors the early lead.
A penalty to Dallas Stars Antoine Roussel would get called for goaltender interference would lead to a short-handed goal for the Stars as Rich Peverly would put it past Jimmy Howard.
With changes to the lineup in Detroit after a loss to the Phoenix Coyotes at home Michigan Native Luke Glendening wouldn’t take long to see action in his NHL debut.
With a hooking call to fellow Michigan native Danny DeKeyser Glendening would see time on the Red Wings penalty kill early in the game.
Hooking would become a theme for the night as the Flyers took a call of their own.
In case you missed it there is a staffing change up tonight here on The Malik Report as George was busy and thus I have stepped in.
The Coyotes are in Detroit as the Red Wings have their first Western Conference match up since moving to the East with the new alignment.
Tonight there is a slight change to the traditional line up here on The Malik Report as George wont be joining us tonight.
George will not be covering tonight's Red Wings game vs. the Phoenix Coyotes and I will be stepping in. For those that do not know me my name is Monica and I have been a freelance hockey writer since 2009. Over the summer Paul and I talked and I decided to join the crew here at Kukla's Korner and have been slowly making my name here.
