Zdeno Chara and the ‘boom stick’

Not Wings-related but worth a thousand words and then some: Per the Associated Press’s Winslow Townson, when faced with the media crush that is the Stanley Cup Final, intrepid media-types have learned that one should walk softly and carry a hockey stick:

No word as to whether Easton will make a commemorative “boom stick” for Zdeno Chara.

Why is this site so obsessed with the Red Wings?  We’re in the middle of the Stanley Cup Finals, we also have the Winnipeg situation yet all I see on this site is insignificant Red Wings news plastered all over.  I really don’t care if Holland blew his nose twice today and if Zetterberg hiccuped twice during his dinner last night.  I think its time for me to go elsewhere for my hockey news and I encourage everyone else that is tired of this crap to do the same.

My blog is Wings-related so I posted a disclaimer. I’ve covered the Winnipeg situation and am helping Paul with the Cup Final as well.

None taken, Chris, but it’s kind of my job to cover the Ken Holland’s sneezes. If you want to filter that stuff out, just use the “KK Hockey” blog option as your bookmark.

Um, Chris, have you looked at the list of blogs on this site?  Only Malik’s blog and the Abel to Yzerman blog are dedicated to the Red Wings.  Certain posts from the various blogs are, from time to time, posted on the main page.  I don’t get your complaint at all.

What George said, except include something where I say that you can’t say “I’m tired of this crap” before saying “no disrespect for your work.”

The blog filters are easy to find and easy to use.  Your own personal sense filters don’t seem to be as user-friendly.

Wow.  I rarely go outside A2Y and TMR because I could care less about all the “insignificant” non-Wings related information that is regularly posted in huge quantities on Kukla’s Korner.  What website are you visiting?  I would love to see it.  Right now the KK homepage is plastered with all sorts of “crap” about Boston, Vancouver, Vancouver, Boston, the Stanley Cup, Boston, Vancouver, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and the Stanley Cup.  BORING.  If you have found a website that goes on and on ad nauseam about how much toilet paper Ken Holland uses every week, please share.

I appreciate the kind words, but Chris has every right to go ahead and tailor his KK reading to his personal preferences. He doesn’t have to like the overabundance of Wings news and even the impolite response on my part is to encourage him to just read the KK hockey blog.

We don’t want to lose readers here and KK and it’s just not a big deal if he doesn’t like reading my stuff—that’s fine, no worries, and Paul works his butt off covering the rest of the stories.

George, I tip my hat to you and your ability to remain courteous in the face of such abuse.  It is a strength I do not share.

It’s part of the job. We’ve gone through the first two-day period without hockey in a week and I can understand if somebody feels like it’s Red Wings overload.

About The Malik Report

The Malik Report is a destination for all things Red Wings-related. I offer biased, perhaps unprofessional-at-times and verbose coverage of my favorite team, their prospects and developmental affiliates. I've joined the Kukla's Korner family with five years of blogging under my belt, and I hope you'll find almost everything you need to follow your Red Wings at a place where all opinions are created equal and we're all friends, talking about hockey and the team we love to follow.
