Well this is plain old interesting: according to the CBC, the Winnipeg Jets’ ownership is more or less “leasing” the Royal Canadian Air Force’s “roundel” via a long-term charitable donation:
The new Winnipeg Jets logo is doing more for the Canadian Forces than just paying tribute. True North Sports and Entertainment, which owns the team, will give $1 million to military charities over the next ten years.
Maj.-Gen. Alain Parent, commander of 1 Canadian Air Division, said it was easy to partner with the new hockey outfit.
“Winnipeg has had a long association with the air force,” he said. “Blue Bombers and Jets are both aircraft that have served or are serving the air force.” In turn, we consider Winnipeg to be the heart of the air force,” he said.
There’s not much going on that’s Red Wings-related as of yet very early on Monday morning…Aside from more blather about Chris Osgood’s Hall of Fame candidacy and a By the Numbers take on Darren Helm’s season from the Wings, it’s been a relatively quiet Sunday afternoon/evening, which isn’t a bad thing when you’re a blogger in transit.

From one Wingaholic to another - George, I understand how impossible it will be for you to really be on vacation from Red Wings news, so I just hope it stays quiet for you for a few days. Enjoy!

The Malik Report is a destination for all things Red Wings-related. I offer biased, perhaps unprofessional-at-times and verbose coverage of my favorite team, their prospects and developmental affiliates. George. You’re on vacation. Be on vacation.
Good Morning!
