The Malik Report

from Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press,
As the Wings roll deeper into the second half of the season, one of the subplots is figuring out the value of DeKeyser — for the team and the player. If DeKeyser doesn’t miss another game, he’ll still finish the season below the century mark for his career. Not much to go on for a guy in a contract year.
“Let’s get to the end of the season, make the playoffs, see what happens, then sit down and negotiate,” general manager Ken Holland said.
DeKeyser, 23, will be a restricted free agent, so there’s no danger he won’t return to the Wings, whom he handpicked as his choice after being pursued by every team in the NHL last March. Because he joined the Wings so late — after finishing his career at Western Michigan — DeKeyser burned up the first year of his contract in what ended up being just 11 games.

About The Malik Report
The Malik Report is a destination for all things Red Wings-related. I offer biased, perhaps unprofessional-at-times and verbose coverage of my favorite team, their prospects and developmental affiliates. I've joined the Kukla's Korner family with five years of blogging under my belt, and I hope you'll find almost everything you need to follow your Red Wings at a place where all opinions are created equal and we're all friends, talking about hockey and the team we love to follow.
