What Red Wings coach Mike Babcock had to say to Ken Daniels and Mickey Redmond last night

Red Wings coach Mike Babcock gave nothing less than a revelatory and downright fascinating interview to Fox Sports Detroit's Ken Daniels and Mickey Redmond last night--as Babcock took in the Red vs. White game from the press box--and, via RedWingsFeed, Fox Sports Detroit has uploaded the interview to its website.

It follows the jump, and the 5-and-a-half minute clip gives significant insights into the coach's plans for his team and approaches to coaching it during the 48-games-in-99-nights demolition derby to come:

this was great! This singlehandedly makes me more excited about Brunner than any other hype or youtube or stat possibly could. Babs doesn’t mess around when it comes to blunt player assessment. If he’s THAT excited and awed by the puck magnetism and the “heavy stick” (something Leino lacked and one of the reasons Babs hated him), my hopes are increased a notch. To have those qualities AND be on a line with Pav and Z. Holy crap.

I also love the glee in his voice when he talks about how Tootoo would have “plastered that kid”.

I also love Tom Renney’s resume.

About The Malik Report

The Malik Report is a destination for all things Red Wings-related. I offer biased, perhaps unprofessional-at-times and verbose coverage of my favorite team, their prospects and developmental affiliates. I've joined the Kukla's Korner family with five years of blogging under my belt, and I hope you'll find almost everything you need to follow your Red Wings at a place where all opinions are created equal and we're all friends, talking about hockey and the team we love to follow.
