I will add to this post as more news comes in from practice.

Khan tweet,

More line shuffling in practice. Helm and Tatar skating with top six. Cleary skating with bottom six.

I had heard Holland got him in the figure 4 leg lock so he could continue the salary cap dance another few weeks. After food poisoning Franzen, he needed another body to go down.

When is Holland going to wake up and realize our current personnel is just average? Oh and great Cleary signing Holland. 3 points in 16 games with half of those in the top 6. Real solid acquisition there bud.

Right after that, Khan(!) also reported that pigs were seeing flying over the Joe and that Lil’ Gary sent a personal observation that hell has, indeed, frozen over.

Kahn says 10 days with Groin, Franzen (back) STIR?? Are these real injuries your Cap manipulation????

Samuelsson should be on Waivers NOW. He doesn’t have a NMC, bite the bullet and rid the Wings of this useless Cap Hit.

Wow, what a great idea.  Why didn’t Holland think of that?

Check out the Wade Redden Rule.

I am not saying waiving Samuelsson is a Cap Friendly move but it does get rid of a sort of NHL body. and cut a small amount of money until the end of the season.  Hence bite the bullet and move on with Nyquist

Samuelsson can be waived and he can be traded with a list of 10 teams he doesn’t want to get traded to

Of course he can, but what team is going to sign that contract?  And who in their right mind doesn’t think Holland hasn’t tried to move him this whole time?

If I remember right, there are 20 teams within $2mil of the cap ceiling.  Speaking purely about financial capabilities, that leaves 10 teams who could presently take his salary.  Likely a fair portion of those teams are teams who typically are close to the cap floor.

The above paragraph ignores a team giving up an asset in return, thus removing that player/cap hit from their book.  So, speaking purely about the non-financial side of it, he isn’t worth the $3mil cap hit for any team.  No one is going to pick that up.
