Dearborn councilman Bob Abraham received four stitches in a vicious assault by some yutz who felt that Abraham’s sons’ friends wearing Blackhawks jerseys merited attacking someone, and as the Dearborn Police have joined the investigation for this moron, the Detroit Free Press reports that there’s a number that Wings fans can call to ensure that the Wings fan who jumped Abraham will be brought to justice:
Detroit Police spokeswoman Sgt. Eren Stephens said officers are seeking witnesses and hope surveillance video contains clues. Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at 800-SPEAK-UP (800-773-2587).
Abraham also spoke to the Free Press about the assault in retrospect:
“There’s passion, there’s excitement, but I’d never expect this,” he said Tuesday, two days after being assaulted outside Joe Louis Arena after the Red Wings’ 2-1 loss to Chicago. Abraham said his assailant was offended by Blackhawks jerseys worn by his son’s friends, who attend Loyola University in Chicago.
Abraham, above, intervened and said he was sucker punched. He needed four stitches over his eye.
“I’m not willing to suggest that Detroit is bad or hockey fans are bad. I think just the opposite,” Abraham said. “If you would’ve reversed the role, and we’d been in Chicago, I would not have allowed my kid to wear a Red Wings jersey, because I’ve seen how some Chicago fans react. I’ve never felt that way about Red Wings fans.”
Any and every sports team’s fan base includes idiots and morons who will try to pick fights with others or act like bullies while utilizing partisan passion as their excuse for shameful behavior. There is no excuse for harassing opposing teams’ fans in anything more than a playful manner, and there is certainly no excuse for acting the way the man who assaulted councilman Abraham did.

About The Malik Report
The Malik Report is a destination for all things Red Wings-related. I offer biased, perhaps unprofessional-at-times and verbose coverage of my favorite team, their prospects and developmental affiliates. I've joined the Kukla's Korner family with five years of blogging under my belt, and I hope you'll find almost everything you need to follow your Red Wings at a place where all opinions are created equal and we're all friends, talking about hockey and the team we love to follow.
I’m rather surprised that no one has yet turned in this criminal. Surely someone who witnessed the attack saw the vehicle and got the license #. Hopefully the moron will talk about what he did to someone, who will then make a call.
