The Malik Report

This isn't necessarily hockey-related, but as October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and as cancer is a truly terrible illness, this story from the Macomb Daily's Debbie Komar made me smile, and when talking about fighting cancer, smiles rarely result:
Your autograph is requested. On a bra. Soon.
You’ll be in good company: Kid Rock. Taylor Swift. Lady Antebellum. Uncle Kracker. Sheryl Crow. Jason Aldean. Carrie Underwood. Detroit’s own Fun. Luke Bryan. Miranda Lambert. Scotty McCreery. Detroit Red Wings’ Pavel Datsyuk. Detroit Tigers’ Miguel Cabrera.
The list of celebrities who’ve already signed fancy decorated bras – and other items including high-heeled shoes and boots – goes on and on as the McLaren Macomb Healthcare Foundation prepares for BRAvo 2013. (But they’d still like one from Eminem.) In partnership with the McLaren Macomb Breast Center and the Ted B. Wahby Cancer Center, the Foundation hosts BRAvo from 5:30 to 10 p.m. Oct. 15 at Penna’s of Sterling in Sterling Heights.
With the theme “Kicking Cancer with Style,” this year’s benefit includes dinner, raffles, live and silent auctions of decorated and celebrity-signed bras, along with an award presentation for winners of a bra-decorating challenge.
A portion of the proceeds supports the BRAvo For Women free mammogram program for uninsured women in Macomb County, said Pat Keigher, director of the McLaren Macomb Breast Cancer Center and the Ted B. Wahby Cancer Center. The remainder goes to the hospital’s breast cancer center. Since its inception in 2010, BRAvo has helped fund more than 800 mammograms “for women who wouldn’t otherwise be able to get them,” said Keigher, who’s been working on BRAvo from the beginning.

About The Malik Report
The Malik Report is a destination for all things Red Wings-related. I offer biased, perhaps unprofessional-at-times and verbose coverage of my favorite team, their prospects and developmental affiliates. I've joined the Kukla's Korner family with five years of blogging under my belt, and I hope you'll find almost everything you need to follow your Red Wings at a place where all opinions are created equal and we're all friends, talking about hockey and the team we love to follow.
