Um… interesting strategy to put all the players that look to be on the opening night roster on one team and then split all the tryouts into the other teams. Makes you wonder if they hope to hit the ground running this season by playing the projected lineup together a few extra games.

Very curious…

Still scratching my head…

This really is weird. It give credence to Holland’s “only one or two spots open.”

Maybe they want the team to gel quicker, maybe they want to set up the players to see how they perform against players at the next level? But its just scrimmages so…?

Just spit balling.

strikes me as a really clumsy way to evaluate the upcomers.

Completely agree. So PA Parenteau is going to get a look as a 3rd line winger alongside maybe Helm and Nielsen or something like that. Meanwhile guys like Svech or Frk or Sadowy who might be eyeing that same middle 6 winger job will be on a line with Axel Holmstrom and Dominic Turgeon. How about we see what Svech can do with Zetterberg and Nyquist. Then see what Frk can do with Nielsen and Tatar. Put guys in roles that they may actually find themselves. Don’t we want to see guys like Russo or McIlrath get some reps on a bottom pair with Ericsson or Kronwall or Ouellet or something like that? How are they going to win jobs playing on the B team. Pretty bizarre. Not sure I’ve heard of any other team doing this.

Looks like the lines are already pretty much settled based on these grouping. So bizarre…

Going to be interesting if Team Delvecchio gets beat though.

I was thinking the same thing! Wouldn’t it be ironic if this was Blashill’s way of restoring the team’s confidence and then they get beat by the prospects? LOL!

A Tatar-Zetterberg-Nyquist line will get hammered. They really need some size on that line IMHO.

it might be a benefit for those guys playing on the bubble to show what they can do against the perceived better players on the Wings. Mixing the squads might not always be the best way to show how good a player is. after all we all know that Zee makes everyone better when they play with him. so, why put anyone on his wing, he’s just going to make them look better than they are.
