The Detroit Red Wings Get Their Point

The only goal that mattered tonight...

George just lost his internet connection so you have me with a very brief game recap.

No more goals, saves, etc., just knowing the Wings are once again in the Stanley Cup playoffs should be the topic tonight.

George will get back to work as soon as his cable company fixes the outage.

I could make the obvious quip about the status quo being maintained with blown leads, a third period goal against, and ineffective penalty killing and shootout, but I won’t. It is nice that the streak will continue, but was it really in doubt since last week?

Now that the Blue Jackets hold the top wildcard spot, they should ask themselves whether they’d prefer to play against a team they went 0-5-0 against or a team they went 0-2-1 against. I think it would be better for everyone except the Bruins if the BJs lose out, though I fear they won’t see it that way.

After that stunt the Wings pulled on the DuhUcks and nearly turned the Cawks into a massive sobfest last year, I can’t wait for the playoffs to get started with this group of kids in the lineup.

if this team can beat pittsburgh over 7 games, then the sky’s the limit, especially if boston gets beaten up on their way through.

still, let’s not plan the parade just yet. this is another year of battling to get into the playoffs—for some teams, that’s bad. for these guys, this year, it’s OK.

i think babs, in his heart of hears, is reminded of anaheim in 2003 here.

To do that the Red Wings need to remain undefeated against the Hurricane then make up for the 4-1 drubbing they sustained against the Blues, while hoping the Blue Jackets miss out on a point against opponents they are a combined 4-0 against.
