The Malik Report

Normally I would just add this to the in-progress "news of the training camp day" post, but I want it to stand alone, and I want it to stand alone for a reason.
Tyler Bertuzzi broke the cardinal and only rule of the summer development camps in fighting Nick Jensen on the first day thereof this past July. Nick Jensen was basically forced to oblige him, and in doing so, Jensen tweaked his shoulder.
Jensen, who was the WCHA's defenseman of the year, and is one of the Wings' brighter prospects on an incredibly deep defensive pipeline because he can carry the hell out of the puck as a superb, superb skater, has been attending training camp, but he's doing so with a combination cooling pack and muscle stimulator on his shoulder. According to the Macomb Daily's Chuck Pleiness, Tyler Bertuzzi's indiscretion was VERY costly--for Jensen:
Defenseman Nick Jensen is expected to return from shoulder surgery sometime around December or January.
So he has in fact had surgery and he's going to miss six or seven months because an 18-year-old who'd just been drafted decided to make a name for himself at a skill development camp.
That ain't right.

About The Malik Report
The Malik Report is a destination for all things Red Wings-related. I offer biased, perhaps unprofessional-at-times and verbose coverage of my favorite team, their prospects and developmental affiliates. I've joined the Kukla's Korner family with five years of blogging under my belt, and I hope you'll find almost everything you need to follow your Red Wings at a place where all opinions are created equal and we're all friends, talking about hockey and the team we love to follow.
