The Malik Report

The Production Line’s Michael Petrella gives us an intriguing bit of speculatory information this evening by noting that Shop.NHL.com happens to list Wings summer development camp try-outs Adam Estcolet (a forward from Dartmouth College), Zachery Franko (Mitchell Callahan’s center with the Kelowna Rockets) and PEI Rocket goaltender Evan Mosher as members of the organization’s jersey-customizable prospects.
Petrella’s looking into whether the players’ agents can confirm contract offers, but in the interim, I can only go on the Wings’ past practices regarding free agent try-outs by suggesting that the trio have been officially invited to the Wings’ prospect tournament, and that that roster is starting to leak its way out of the front office and onto the ‘net. The Wings tend to wait to see whether try-outs can keep up during the prospect tournament and main training camp before awarding them contracts and spots on the 50-man roster, and none of the three players at least stood out enough in early July in my opinion to warrant pre-tournament contracts.
In any case, we’ll find out sooner than later.
