St. James offers good news regarding Red Wings’ Pavel Datsyuk

Two scoops for the Free Press's Helene St. James over the course of one evening. First, an early-edition article allowed St. James to reveal that the Red Wings will only consider retaining the services of two of their unrestricted free agents-to-be--Jonas Gustavsson (maybe) and Daniel Alfredsson (ditto)...

And her article published in this morning's Free Press delivers good news regarding Pavel Datsyuk:

The summer of healing appears to be off to a good start for Pavel Datsyuk, who spent half the season plagued by inflammation in his left knee. “It looks like he’s not having surgery,” [Red Wings GM Ken] Holland said. “At the end of the year, he had no pain, he wasn’t playing on painkillers. He’s going to stay in touch with doctors, but I don’t think he’s going to have surgery.” Datsyuk said last week he had an MRI scheduled to determine if he’d need his knee surgically repaired.

Good news as long as the story isn’t about it didn’t heal as expected in Sept and now the doctors are going to have a 2nd look at it.

Can’t afford to have our best player playing on one leg anymore.

Anyone buy him a full bodysuit so any cuts don’t get infected from polluted water while fishing? Red Wings management, I am looking in your direction…

Hopefully we don’t have an issue in December where he’s out again and we all curse the fact that he didn’t bite the bullet and have it cleaned up right now.

About The Malik Report

The Malik Report is a destination for all things Red Wings-related. I offer biased, perhaps unprofessional-at-times and verbose coverage of my favorite team, their prospects and developmental affiliates. I've joined the Kukla's Korner family with five years of blogging under my belt, and I hope you'll find almost everything you need to follow your Red Wings at a place where all opinions are created equal and we're all friends, talking about hockey and the team we love to follow.
