According to the Financial Post’s Eric Lam, Red Wings legend Gordie Howe made an appearance at the “Prospects and Developers Association of Canada‘s” convention in Toronto earlier this afternoon, and Howe’s son and co-business manager, Marty Howe, had this to say about his father’s continued participation in promotional appearances:
“He loves being in public, dealing with people. This is what keeps him going,” Marty Howe said. “Ever since my mom passed away, these things are more important than ever to keep him in the public and keep his mind off things he shouldn’t be thinking about. He really enjoys being out here, and when people talk to him they realize how genuine he is.”
Marty Howe is the older brother of Mark Howe, and played with the Boston Bruins and Hartford Whalers of the NHL. In total, Gordie Howe spent more than two hours signing free autographs and posing for photos.
“We started off with a stack of 300 photos and it looks like we’re just about out,” Marty Howe said.

Two in my party can’t go now so I’d like to make sure these get used.

About The Malik Report
The Malik Report is a destination for all things Red Wings-related. I offer biased, perhaps unprofessional-at-times and verbose coverage of my favorite team, their prospects and developmental affiliates. I've joined the Kukla's Korner family with five years of blogging under my belt, and I hope you'll find almost everything you need to follow your Red Wings at a place where all opinions are created equal and we're all friends, talking about hockey and the team we love to follow.
Gordie’s fantastic. I had the chance to meet him at the trade show in Fort St. John last year, way up in Northern BC. My girlfriend introduced herself to him and he shook her hand. Then she motioned over to me and started to say, “And this is my boyfriend…” and without missing a beat, Gordie said, “I don’t care about that guy. I just want to talk to you.” And then he grinned and winked at me and extended his hand.
Great memory.
