Red Wings unofficially reveal finalists for ‘Bud Light Faceoff’ between rec teams, Wings alums

Update: the voting page can be found here...

Here’s something to cheer you up given the lovely result of Wednesday night’s Wings-Ducks game: last month, the Red Wings encouraged local recreational hockey teams to submit YouTube videos explaining why their team should have the privilege of facing off against a team of Red Wings Alumni, and while the Wings haven’t revealed how one might vote for the five finalists, RedWingsFeed’s search engine robots (I can only afford untrained monkeys) found that the Wings have chosen the following teams to vie for your affections. In no particular order, they are…

1. The District Chiefs:

2. The Honeybadgers:

3. The Motor City Mayhem:

4. Team Rosati:

5. And the Grosse Pointe Chill:

And as your friendly neighborhood blogger is having a sleepless night and bad-news-from-laywer-fueled morning from hell, I’d like to mention that Pro Hockey Talk’s James O’Brien was kind enough to mention my quick take thanks to my reference to The Fifth Element’s Jean-Baptise Emanuel Zorg. Oh, Zorgy, never change…

I should also mention that the Wings and Griffins made Gustav Nyquist’s reassignment to Grand Rapids official this morning. The Griffins’ playoff hopes ride on “winning out,” and with back-to-back games against the Marlies and Bulldogs on Friday and Saturday, respectively, the Griffins desperately need their leading scorer back. If the Wings need a warm body should Bertuzzi or anyone else suffer some sort of setback prior to Saturday’s game against the Sharks, expect them to throw a curve ball our way and pluck prospect who’s currently a spare part.

About The Malik Report

The Malik Report is a destination for all things Red Wings-related. I offer biased, perhaps unprofessional-at-times and verbose coverage of my favorite team, their prospects and developmental affiliates. I've joined the Kukla's Korner family with five years of blogging under my belt, and I hope you'll find almost everything you need to follow your Red Wings at a place where all opinions are created equal and we're all friends, talking about hockey and the team we love to follow.
