Red Wings to engage in an ‘all-inclusive’ training camp

According to RedWingsCentral’s Sarah Lindenau, writing on her Left Wing Lock blog, the Detroit Red Wings’ decision to add two days to their training camp will yield a much bigger-than-usual roster for the festivities:

The Detroit Red Wings have announced their 2011 training camp roster to be held at Centre I.C.E. arena in Traverse City, MI. The main camp roster features this summers free agent signings – Ty Conklin, Ian White and Mike Commodore. Additionally, all prospects from the Red Wings prospect tournament roster will be participating in the main camp (including the seven free agent try outs) as well as players slated to play in the Red Wings farm system.

At present there are no free-agent try-out surprises, but we’ll see whether that changes over the course of the next month, and you can take a gander at the full roster here.

Also of incredibly brief note this afternoon: Via the Wings’ Facebook page, Dave Coulier and a bunch of celebrities and Wings and Tigers will take part in Ilitch Charities’ Celebrity Golf Classic at the Oakland Hills Country Club. Let’s just say that the admission is quite expensive;

• I believe this counts as marginally tangentially related as it’s about a Leafs game which includes the Red Wings’ director of pro scouting, per the Toronto Sun’s Lance Hornby:

Early bet for toughest ticket at the Air Canada Centre this season will be Nov. 12 when the Ottawa Senators visit. Not just another Battle of Ontario, but it’s the Hall of Fame Game where former Leaf inductees Doug Gilmour, Joe Nieuwendyk, Ed Belfour and ex-Marlie Mark Howe will be part of a loud pre-game presentation.

• And Wings social media coordinator Jake Duhaime announced that Roman Tov won the Wings’ “Dream Team” competition with an all-European roster.
