Red Wings tell Jagr to bug off, too

Awesome, per the Sporting News’s Craig Custance:

Red Wings are also out on Jagr.

Nick Cotsonika of Yahoo Sports confirms:

As per @CraigCustance and @kausatoday, Red Wings are out on Jagr, too. Teams like Pens and Wings were going to take risk on their terms.

USA Today’s Kevin Allen and the Windsor Star’s Bob Duff confirm.

Update: Per the Free Press’s Helene St. James:

General manager Ken Holland told the Free Press today that the Wings “are out on Jagr. We made an offer and he doesn’t want it, so we’re done.”

Update #2: Elegantly put, by FSD’s Art Regner:

Souces close to the team say Jagr’s camp was just too slow and too flighty, which tested the Red Wings’ patience.

You know, Jagr and his agent screwed up royally here.  If they could have kept the ego and drama in check, Jagr might actually have been signed by one of the teams.  I am thoroughly relieved that the prima donna is not going to be poisoning the Wings dressing room.

i have to say that i was eager to score Jagr for a mere 2mil losing no assets… it seemed a gamble well worth taking. as Jagr started playing his games the last couple days and the drama began, it really reminded me as to exactly what made him so unlikable in the past. Diva doesn’t seem to begin to describe it. What a moron. I really hope he either gets shut out of the NHL all together or even better, signs with the Islanders or the Panthers or something. I’m pretty relieved in retrospect that this little experiment never took flight. Seems it may have been more detrimental to the team than I first thought.

Ericsson, Eaves, and Miller for 5.275 million is not a bad deal.

Still leaves them with room (both cap and roster)  to pick up a cheap #6 d-man, cheap backup goalie, and Brad Richards.  Ha.

Counting Emmerton and Mursak, Wings have 14 forwards.  They better get cracking on dumping Hudler so they can keep Draper.

Wings situation at D is interesting.  They have plenty of depth (Janik, Kindl, Smith, Almqvist, etc) to round out the 5-6-7 spots if they want/have to go that route.  The only real questions now:  is Nik Kronwall a true top two, and is Ericsson a true top four?  And if no to either question, who is available to fill those roles?

Thanks, Kenny.  Now if you could just call a press conference on Monday to announce that you’ve signed Richards & White or Lilja or someone, gotten two assistant coaches, and you’ve offered Jagr five bucks and a bag of cheese goldfish, I’ll consider the Ericsson thing a wash and this summer a reasonable success

Welcome back Killer Miller.  I didn’t want to see a MIchigan man walk, even if he is an MSU grad, and actually from New Jersey.

LA Kings GM and CEO both going to present offer to Brad Richards in person, reportedly.  Don’t know if Wings were seriously considering him ever or now.

If story is accurate we won’t hear anything from him very soon.

It’s all good with Lidstrom, Kronner, and Stuart, as your #1-3 ... and begrudgingly it looks like Big E is the #4 (unless they pick up someone like Ian White to fight for that #4 spot). It’ll all fall into place one way or another.

But despite the top 4 more or less being settled, it’s stylistically much different than the Wings have had in the past with the loss of the puck-moving skills of Rafalski. Could be an interesting/frustrating season for everyone.

Yeah, although Holland has made some intriguing comments about what he thinks we will see from Kronwall.  But yeah, definitely, interesting and/or frustrating, that’s a safe prediction.
