The Malik Report

Very cool: the NHL named its “Three Stars of the Week” a few minutes ago, and Red Wings defenseman Niklas Kronwall was named the #2 star behind Buffalo Sabres goalie Ryan Miller, who’s salvaging the Sabres’ pride, and ahead of Chicago Blackhawks goalie Ray Emery, who’s salvaging the Blackhawks’ playoff hopes:
The Detroit Red Wings don’t have to worry as much about the playoffs, and part of that credit goes to defenseman Niklas Kronwall, who stepped up in the absence of fellow blueliners Nicklas Lidstrom and Jonathan Ericsson to put up 2 goals and 5 assists in three games last week to earn Second Star of the Week.
On Tuesday against the Columbus Blue Jackets, he scored the game-tying goal in the second period and set up Henrik Zetterberg’s go-ahead goal in a 5-2 victory. Then he set up three of the Wings’ first four goals in a 6-0 defeat of the Minnesota Wild on Friday. He capped his week with the Wings’ lone goal in a 2-1 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks.
Many thanks to Yahoo Sports’ Sean Leahy for the heads-up.

About The Malik Report
The Malik Report is a destination for all things Red Wings-related. I offer biased, perhaps unprofessional-at-times and verbose coverage of my favorite team, their prospects and developmental affiliates. I've joined the Kukla's Korner family with five years of blogging under my belt, and I hope you'll find almost everything you need to follow your Red Wings at a place where all opinions are created equal and we're all friends, talking about hockey and the team we love to follow.
