The Red Wings' injury bug is catching, and it caught Carlo Colaiacovo in a big way on Monday, as noted by MLive's Ansar Khan:
Oft-injured defenseman Carlo Colaiacovo hurt his shoulder early in the third period of Monday's 4-3 shootout win over the Columbus Blue Jackets ay Nationwide Arena and is out for an undetermined amount of time.
“Losing Colo isn't good news for us, but it's all part of the process,'' coach Mike Babcock said.
Asked if it appears Colaiacovo will be out for weeks, Babcock said, “Yeah, it doesn't look like it's any time soon.''
General manager Ken Holland said Colaiacovo will see a doctor in the morning to determine the extent of the injury.
The Wings may or may not have Jonathan Ericsson (shoulder) back in the lineup on Tuesday against Dallas, but at this point, as Khan notes, Jakub Kindl (groin) won't be back until Friday. As such, Brian Lashoff will play against the Stars, and the Wings may have to sign someone like Nathan Paetsch to a 2-way contract.

Might as well sign Billins to a two-way and get it over with…

Well it’s a good thing we signed Wade Red-... Oh wait, nevermind.

Gotta tell you Lashoff didn’t look out of place at all tonight. He was a bright spot and absolutely outplayed quincey and white.. obviously CC.. Lashoff was solid. Chelios was right.

Jim Vandermeer’s still on waivers until noon today.

If only Wade Redden had accepted the offer we made him…

The reason Lashoff didn’t look out of place (and he didn’t) is because the Wings blueline is mediocre right now, not because Lashoff is any good.
The whole blue line is having a huge problem with maintaining their spacing when the puck starts moving around deep in the zone. Right now the guys on the points are struggling to figure out when they should pinch up and when they should sag back, so what ends up happening is that they don’t do either forcefully and are in no-mans land… or they do the wrong thing forcefully and get burned by the 20th straight stretch pass that seams them to death.
Detroit has a decent collection of defensemen. They just haven’t sorted out what their specific roles are when they are on the ice yet. Which guys need to concentrate on positioning? Which to generating offense? Who pushes up and who slides to cover? The good news is that they eventually will hammer out all these details. The bad news is that by the time they do it’s likely this 48 game season will either be over, or close enough so as to make no difference.

He didn’t look like a minor-leager playing against NHL’ers. What I mean by didn’t look out of place was, didn’t look over his head.
Did you watch the game?

The question for Kenny: who goes from the 50-man to make space for Paetsch on a two-way? Or for another signing on a one-way, for that matter.
Taking a look at the reserve list over at CapGeek, I would guess they make a move to clear Raedeke’s contract.
