Red Wings to ring bells for the Salvation Army on Friday

Via the Free Press's Perry A. Farrell:

Current and former Detroit Red Wings players will serve as Salvation Army red kettle bell ringers at four metro Detroit retail stores that are competing against each other to see who can raise the most money.

Autographs will be available at all locations for a suggested minimum $10 donation, with a limit of three pieces of memorabilia per fan. Those who are unable to donate to their favorite player, alumnus or announcer in person, can support The Salvation Army by texting REDWINGS to 41444 to make a contribution.

As a bonus to fans, Hockeytown Authentics will offer a 25% discount on Detroit Red Wings merchandise, excluding Authentics, between 4-6 p.m.

Since 2005, the Detroit Red Wings organization has raised nearly $135,000 for The Salvation Army through “Red Wings for Red Kettles.”

Players will be at the following locations from 4-6 p.m. Friday.

Here’s a breakdown of who will be where:

  • Ken Kal, Kirk Maltby at the Kroger’s in Grosse Pointe Woods; 20422 Mack Ave., along with Capt. Kelsie Moreno of the Salvation Army.
  • Kris Draper and Chris Osgood along with Maj. Keith Bailey, at the Kroger’s in Plymouth, 15455 Haggerty Rd.
  • Petr Mrazek and Tomas Tatar along with Capt. Jeff Eddy, at the Kroger’s in Royal Oak, 2200 E. 12 Mile Rd.
  • Justin Abdelkader, Darren Helm, Ken Daniels and Mickey Redmond, along with Capt. Peter Mount at Hockeytown Authentics, 1845 E. Big Beaver.

Players and alumni along with staff are subject to change and Redmond will be ringing from 4-5 p.m.

HSJ will have an article about how Mrazek’s bell ringing technique wasn’t good enough written up by 8:00 PM Friday.

Are you requesting that I personally go and analyze myself? It’s in my area. smile

Go for it Homers. I would if I were in the area but I’m not, unfortunately. If I did live in Metro Detroit, I probably would go to the Mrazek and Tatar store, just to see for myself if Mrazek is as big a turd as HSJ would have us believe.

Mrazek has autographed a few items for me, and he seemed O.K. cheese

About The Malik Report

The Malik Report is a destination for all things Red Wings-related. I offer biased, perhaps unprofessional-at-times and verbose coverage of my favorite team, their prospects and developmental affiliates. I've joined the Kukla's Korner family with five years of blogging under my belt, and I hope you'll find almost everything you need to follow your Red Wings at a place where all opinions are created equal and we're all friends, talking about hockey and the team we love to follow.
