Red Wings prospect Anthony Mantha named QMJHL’s ‘First Star’ of the month—again

Red Wings prospect Anthony Mantha was named the QMJHL's First Star of the Month for September and the CHL's Player of the Week in mid-October, so it should come as little surprise that Mantha's continued dominant play for the Val-d'Or Foreurs has yielded another First Star of the Month honor (via RedWingsFeed):

Anthony Mantha, Emile Poirier and Etienne Marcoux were named today the TELUS three stars for the month of October.

The first star is awarded to Val-d’Or Foreurs forward, Anthony Mantha. First round pick of the Detroit Red Wings in June 2013, Mantha had a total of 25 points in 10 games, an average of 2.5 points per game scoring 11 goals in all. Two of his goals were scored on penalty kills and he shot 53 times at the opposing team’s net, an average of more than 5 shots per game. He played two consecutive games of 5 points on October 11th and 12th against the Sherbrooke Phoenix and Drummondville Voltigeurs with 6-4 and 6-5 wins. In total he registered 7 games of 2 points or more. His performances in the past 31 days allowed him to increase his first place lead of QMJHL scorers. With 39 points, he’s already scored 19 goals.

About The Malik Report

The Malik Report is a destination for all things Red Wings-related. I offer biased, perhaps unprofessional-at-times and verbose coverage of my favorite team, their prospects and developmental affiliates. I've joined the Kukla's Korner family with five years of blogging under my belt, and I hope you'll find almost everything you need to follow your Red Wings at a place where all opinions are created equal and we're all friends, talking about hockey and the team we love to follow.
