Red Wings pick Mattias Janmark-Nylen 79th overall

Updated 4x at 8:07 PM: Here's the Swede:

Janmark-Nylen was listed 79th overall among European skaters by the Central Scouting bureau.

Update #1: From the Macomb Daily's Chuck Pleiness:

Mattias Janmark-nylen was taken by the Wings with their third round pick, 79th overall.

Janmark-nylen, who played for AIK Juniors in Sweden, is a left-handed center, who’s 6-1 and 189 pounds.

He finished ranked 98th by NHL Central scouting.

Hell, Janmark-Nylen played for AIK Skelleftea, where Jimmie Ericsson plays. May be an Ericsson family connection! Edit: Never mind, it's AIK Stockholm.

Update #2: Here's RedWingsCentral on Janmark-Nylen:

3-79. C/LW Mattias Janmark Nylen, AIK (SHL), 55-14-17-31-32. Nylen put himself on the map this season by producing impressive numbers and finishing as a Swedish Elite League rookie-of-the-year nominee. Although he’s been passed over in previous drafts like Pavel Datsyuk all those years ago, Nylen has decent size and is known for his high skill level and tremendous smarts and knocked for his skating. At 21, he’s closer to the NHL than most picks.

Update #3: MLive's Ansar Khan sticks with the facts:

At the entry draft at the Prudential Center, the Detroit Red Wings revisited some old stomping grounds for their fourth choice.

The Red Wings picked Swedish center Mattias Janmark-nylen with the 79th overall pick (third round).

Janmark-nylen, 20, appeared in 55 games for AIK in the Swedish Elite League, collecting 14 goals, 17 assists and 32 penalty minutes. He shoots left.

Update #4:

I just looked up the Swedish consulate is in Saline, I guess that’s close enough to Novi.

For whatever, reason Flames message board debated signing him last February:

I wonder if this is the payoff for a buyout of Sammy.  Kidding!
