Red Wings lose Jonathan Ericsson to an ‘upper-body’ (shoulder?) injury

The Detroit Red Wings are playing absolutely dreadfully right now, losing 3-0 to the New York Islanders, and Petr Mrazek's in net because Jonas Gustavsson has a sore groin.

Worse, it appears that the team's lost Jonathan Ericsson's services again:

Update: Ugh.

At a certain point, you start to wonder if the way they’re playing is conducive to causing more injuries. Not being able to get the puck out from behind the net quickly gets defensemen run into the boards more. Getting stuck on the boards in the offensive zone means a lot of mucking and grinding wearing them down.

Are all the injuires a coincidence or is the East grinding them down?

The Wings didn’t have a shortage of injuries last year or the year before that when they were in the West.
