Red Wings’ Gustav Nyquist faces off against Tomas Hertl in latest TSN Play of the Year Showdown

The Red Wings' non-Datsyukian players continue to make hay in TSN's Play of the Year showdown. Tomas Tatar, Jonas Gustavsson and Gustav Nyquist have all made appearances, and now things get serious as the quarterfinals begin:

Is more aesthetically pleasing than San Jose Sharks forward Tomas Hertl's between-the-legs goal against Martin Biron--Hertl's 4th goal of that particular evening:

Hertl’s goal was showboating.  It was a one-on-one with the Rags’ keeper and he won.  Nike’s goal had an obvious holding call that was gonna turn into a penalty shot, but Nike said, “I don’t trust these refs to call a penalty shot so I’ll score it now.”

Nike’s it is.

Nyquist’s goal is the play of the year.

The best part of Hertl’s goal, which was a beautiful shot, was the whining from the Rangers afterwards.

About The Malik Report

The Malik Report is a destination for all things Red Wings-related. I offer biased, perhaps unprofessional-at-times and verbose coverage of my favorite team, their prospects and developmental affiliates. I've joined the Kukla's Korner family with five years of blogging under my belt, and I hope you'll find almost everything you need to follow your Red Wings at a place where all opinions are created equal and we're all friends, talking about hockey and the team we love to follow.
