Red Wings-Blackhawks pre-season game open post:for the die-hards

The Detroit Red Wings will face off against the Chicago Blackhawks at 5 PM today (on FSD and the NHL Network U.S., and WXYT AM after the Tigers game), and despite the Detroit News's Gregg Krupa's best efforts, didn't really know the lineups for tonight's game (and there was no clarification regarding Jonas Gustavsson's groin and whether he's got a two-day tweak or a Babcockian two-week owie) until the Blackhawks' press corps leaked 'em:

Red Wings:

Goaltenders:

#34 Petr Mrazek
#35 Jimmy Howard

Skaters:

#2 Brendan Smith
#8 Justin Abdelkader
#13 Pavel Datsyuk
#14 Gustav Nyquist
#15 Riley Sheahan
#18 Joakim Andersson
#21 Tomas Tatar
#24 Nathan Paetsch
#25 Cory Emmerton
#29 Landon Ferraro
#32 Louis-Marc Aubry
#37 Mikael Samuelsson
#40 Henrik Zettererg
#41 Luke Glendening
#47 Alexei Marchenko
#52 Jonathan Ericsson
#53 Adam Almquist
#55 Niklas Kronwall

The Blackhawks' lineup has 23 skaters listed, so 5 of the players listed won't be taking part in tonight's game:

Goalies:

#31 Antti Raanta
#50 Corey Crawford

Skaters:

#2 Duncan Keith
#6 Mike Kostka (guess he's okay after being Pulkkinen'ed)
#7 Brent Seabrook
#11 Jeremy Morin
#14 Drew LeBlanc
#16 Marcus Kruger
#19 Jonathan Toews
#20 Brandon Saad
#22 Jimmy Hayes
#24 Phillip Danault
#28 Ben Smith
#29 Bryan Bickell
#32 Michal Rozsival
#34 Dylan Olsen
#38 Ryan Hartman
#42 Joakim Nordstrom
#43 NViktor Svedberg
#44 Klas Dahlbeck
#51 Brad Mills
#52 Brandon Bollig
#55 Ryan Stanton
#58 Bryan Forese
#61 Garret Ross

The refs will be Greg Kimmerly and Brian Pochmara...
And Greg Devorski and Brad Lazarowich will be working the lines.

The game summary, event summary and roster reports should assist those of you who want to follow the statistical storylines...

FYI: Wednesday's game against PIttsburgh will air on FSD+ and the NHL Nework U.S.; Friday's game against Toronto will air on Leafs TV, so I'm sure we'll find some illegal streams of the game; and Saturday's exhibition season finale in Toronto will air on the CBC and the NHL Network U.S.

If you want to discuss the game and complain about the referees wink here's your spot to do so. I know today's a Football-and-Baseball-y weekend, and that preseason games have limited appeal, but the die-hards are always welcome. Get down wit' yo' bad self in a live blog.

I’ll never understand why people insist on comparing Almqvist and his booming shot to Rafalski and his weak, underwhelming shooting.

I think it has more to do with they’re size and weight.

It’s funny seeing Kostka out on the ice for Chicago.  The way Q-Stache was going on to the media around here about Pulkkinen needing to be suspended, I would have thought Kostka was going to miss half the season or end up dying.

Refs fuching up icing calls now…..and puck’s in the net, lovely.  Hope the guys in stripes get this crap out of their system in the preseason.  Not likely, but you can always hope.

And then the linesman kicks the puck away from the Wings to give the Hawks a rush….and puck’s in the net again.  Unreal

Hooking not a penalty anymore?  Glad this isn’t a regular season game, because I’d be unreal pissed at the officials right now.

Just saw that Kassian is getting a hearing, and he does have a suspension history.

Well, if they are supposed to be taking extent of injury and suspension history into account, he deserves more than 4, considering Kostka is out here playing tonight, and Gagne probably wont be back until the end of October.

I agree but logic and common sense have no place in the NHL “Wheel of Justice”.

Almquist has a hard shot, but more importantly, he always seems to be able to get it through.  Too bad he doesn’t have Smith’s size, he be on the opening night lineup.
