Per FSD, Jimmy Howard ‘injured,’ so Gustavsson starts for the Red Wings today

Updated 5x at 1:51 PM: Sounds like Howard's OK: Fox Sports Detroit's Ken Daniels and Mickey Redmond report that Jimmy Howard was "injured" in the game vs. Philadelphia, and as such, Jonas Gustavsson starts today vs. Boston.

No news as to what the "injury" was, but Daniels said that Howard took the warm-up and decided that he wasn't quite ready to go today.

Update #4: Via RedWingsFeed, here's the Detroit News's Ted Kulfan's report:

Jonas Gustavsson made his season debut for the Red Wings Monday afternoon.

Jimmy Howard hurt his hand during Saturday's game against Philadelphia, but was able to practice Sunday.

Howard participated in warmups Monday before the game against the Boston Bruins, but the decision was made to go with Gustavsson.

A groin injury kept Gustavsson from all but one exhibition game, and Monday's start will be his first appearance of the regular season.

I’m sorry Howard is hurt but glad to see Gustavsson have a go…I’m a fan and deserves another shot to proved he belongs in the NHL
