About The Malik Report
The Malik Report is a destination for all things Red Wings-related. I offer biased, perhaps unprofessional-at-times and verbose coverage of my favorite team, their prospects and developmental affiliates. I've joined the Kukla's Korner family with five years of blogging under my belt, and I hope you'll find almost everything you need to follow your Red Wings at a place where all opinions are created equal and we're all friends, talking about hockey and the team we love to follow.
The current USD/SEK (Swedish Krona) exchange rate is roughly 6.5 krona per one U.S. dollar. This means that there is a pretty big error in Google translate regarding the potential insurance payment for the Swede’s to play in their home country. The 500k and 700k krona mentioned in the various articles is equivalent to a range of $75k-$105k USD, which is a more reasonable hit and is in line with the high end of the range quoted in a recent Globe & Mail piece citing insurance costs for the players of between $20k to $75k USD depending on both contract size and remaining term.
