via Sven Gustavsson tweet (translated)

Now it is clear. It was Gustav Nyquist, who now may make his debut in the Swedish national team at the Olympic Games in Sochi.

He has made a success of the Detroit Red Wings.

Now it is clear that Gustav Nyquist, 24, replaces teammate and injured Johan Franzen in the Tre Kronor Olympic team.

There will be Nyquist replacing Franzen, confirms national team boss Tommy Boustedt in TV3's Studio Sochi on Monday evening.

Nice!

Hedman snubbed!

Zuh?  Did people think that the replacement for Franzen was going to be a defenseman?

This is great. Good experience for him. Hopefully he’ll see some quality ice time.

Yes, in a way.  There’s been a decent amount of controversy re: the Swedish selections, and Hedman was considered by some to be an inexcusable snub.

Great to see the kids being recognized.  Guess I was 4 years early on my ‘goofball’ prediction

Oh, I understand him being considered a snub, but people can’t have really expected they were going to carry nine defensemen and only thirteen forwards, right?  That would just be poor management.

Huge plus here for Sweden. They can drop him on a line with Z and have the current explosive chemistry.

No no no.  Put him on a dangerous third line with someone like Landeskog and Marcus Kruger. Leave Hank to skate with Ericksson and Backström.

Eriksson presumably, not Ericsson, because…. I have no idea why he was even named.

Hank with Nyquist makes a ton of sense, they’ve quite effective together one the Wings, and they play with Alfredsson on the PP, so I would think that line would be a no-brainer, at least to start.
