Now The Power Play Is Working

from Brendan Savage of Mlive,

It's taken more than three-quarter of the season but the Detroit Red Wings are finally starting to see some results from their power play.

Better late than never?

Not really considering the Red Wings are playing for little more than professional pride these days.

Barring a miraculous finish - something along the lines of 14 straight wins to end the season - the Red Wings are destined to see their playoff streak end at 25 seasons.

But at least they can take some satisfaction in knowing the power play is no longer dead last in the NHL even if they're still on pace to finish with the fewest power-play goals in team history.

I think Z and a few kids are profiting from PP ice time.  Who would have thought.  Vanek was given away, Nielsen has disappeared (OK he is a Vet).  I like them both but why has PP gotten better??  Z, Z, Z!! Young players like Tatar eyes pop out when he is on a PP with Z.  Green actually is tough to cover on PP.  Blashill trying new things that actually work but too late.

About The Malik Report

The Malik Report is a destination for all things Red Wings-related. I offer biased, perhaps unprofessional-at-times and verbose coverage of my favorite team, their prospects and developmental affiliates. I've joined the Kukla's Korner family with five years of blogging under my belt, and I hope you'll find almost everything you need to follow your Red Wings at a place where all opinions are created equal and we're all friends, talking about hockey and the team we love to follow.
