The Malik Report

This isn't Red Wings-related news any more, but I'm putting it in this blog hoping for the best. From TSN's Bob McKenzie:
Legal representatives for Todd Bertuzzi and Steve Moore are deep into discussions aimed at arriving at a negotiated (out of court) settlement.
Note: While some settlement sources suggest a Bertuzzi-Moore settlement may be close, no legal agreement is currently in place. Their civil trial is scheduled for Sept. 8.
Tim Danson, Moore's lawyer, is now asking for $68 million in compensation, suing Bertuzzi, the Canucks' former owners, Marc Crawford, the NHL, etc.
But multiple sources say a negotiated settlement to avert a trial is a possibility.
Talks are ongoing.
[edit: Let's try this: it's probably Red Wings-related because you could find no stronger sign that Bertuzzi's not getting any contract offers and is probably going to hang 'em up than this /end edit]

About The Malik Report
The Malik Report is a destination for all things Red Wings-related. I offer biased, perhaps unprofessional-at-times and verbose coverage of my favorite team, their prospects and developmental affiliates. I've joined the Kukla's Korner family with five years of blogging under my belt, and I hope you'll find almost everything you need to follow your Red Wings at a place where all opinions are created equal and we're all friends, talking about hockey and the team we love to follow.
