The Red Wings are likely to dip their toes into the free-agent market, although they probably won't go after big names. General manager Ken Holland will listen to trade offers.
But the bottom line is that the Red Wings' kids will continue to play, other Griffins could get a chance, and Holland isn't likely to move any of his young players in trades.
"We like our kids -- we have good young players who'll play in the NHL for 10 to 15 years," Holland said. "I don't want to get into trades where we're sending two or three of those kids for a 32-year-old player."

About The Malik Report
The Malik Report is a destination for all things Red Wings-related. I offer biased, perhaps unprofessional-at-times and verbose coverage of my favorite team, their prospects and developmental affiliates. I've joined the Kukla's Korner family with five years of blogging under my belt, and I hope you'll find almost everything you need to follow your Red Wings at a place where all opinions are created equal and we're all friends, talking about hockey and the team we love to follow.
