Khan: Tootoo’s shoulder bruised; Red Wings don’t know extent of Gustavsson’s groin injury

Very important in-game Tweets from MLive's Ansar Khan:

This one is huge given that Red Wings coach Mike Babcock made it sound like Jonas Gustavsson was out for an extended period of time--and a day after Gustavsson tweaked his groin against Boston, that's not necessarily the case:

Update: And then things got weird via Fox Sports Detroit:

How does Khan’s tweet refute Babcock’s assessment?

Babcock tossed off a cliche. The media insisted it was at least two weeks. Now we at least know that the blanket assessment is not yet a precise diagnosis.

I don’t like disagreeing with the coach—ever—but let’s crank down the drama meter for five seconds here.

I think Babcock made his statement out of a combo of frustration with the situation and experience.  But I bet he ain’t far off.

yeah not necessarily the case. gotta wait till the swelling goes down to make a determination. could be longer we have no idea. not saying you are wrong but why you would insist otherwise is beyond me. I agree with hoot that’s the what groins do

i picture a teary eyed Jordan Tootoo just smashing his own shoulder with a hammer over and over late last night repeating “they can’t waive an injured player” with each self inflicted blow

not wanting to put words in his mouth but ... I think Babs is beyond frustrated with Gustavsson.  Now they have to keep either Mrazek or Coreau with the team until Gustavsson heals.  Not the development path he and Holland expected.

I get the feeling Gustavsson is on his way out once his contract expires at the end of the season ... or sooner.  hmmmmmmmmm

George did make a funny. And yes, Babs is super frustrated with Gus, and his ass is scooting out of town unless he plays fantastic hockey this year—while remaining relatively healthy.

Neither of those things he has ever done before, and definitely not at the same time.  But heres to hoping, eh?

Mrazek is a bonkers goalie. He should get the backup slot. The Monster was a bit of a bust for the wings. Glasstovson is just not built to play consistently.
