Not good, not good. MLive's Ansar Khan wasn't able to get Red Wings GM Ken Holland name of the player who won't be able to play tonight against the Anaheim Ducks (it's on at 7:30 PM on FSD and Prime Ticket, but all of a sudden, there's confusion as to whether it will air on the NHL Network or not, so we don't know if it's gonna be blacked out for GCL and Center Ice subscribers!), necessitating the recall of Gustav Nyquist from the Grand Rapids Griffins--who the Macomb Daily's Chuck Pleiness reports will play this evening...
But Khan and Pleiness were able speak to Holland about the rest of the Wings' injuries, and the news on Todd Bertuzzi is particularly distressing. It sounds like he's going to be gone for a month or more:
Todd Bertuzzi (back): “His lower back is bothering him. I got to believe he's out indefinitely, probably a minimum of a couple weeks. Even when he gets back, it's going to take a week or two to get up and running. Trying to the the flare-up to go down.''
Bertuzzi is in a lot of pain, but tests revealed no significant damage, just inflammation.
Darren Helm (back): “He feels a little better every day. Doctors aren't sure if it's a strain or a slight ligament tear. They ruled out disc problems or a hairline fracture. Appears some type of muscle or ligament pull or tear. Judging by how long he's been out, likely a slight tear. We're in a holding pattern, no idea of time frame.''
...
Mikael Samuelsson (groin) and Jan Mursak (collar bone): They might return on Sunday; by Tuesday, at the latest, barring a setback.
...
Brendan Smith (shoulder) and Carlo Colaiacovo (shoulder): They are about a week-to-10 days away.
“If not next weekend, then shortly after,'' Holland said.
Via RedWingsFeed, the Macomb Daily's Chuck Pleiness provides us with the balance of injury news...
Johan Franzen (hip flexor) is out at least through Sunday.
“We’re going to be conservative with him,” Holland said. “Fortunately, we’re 7-4-2, we can be a little conservative.”
...
Goalie Jonas Gustavsson (groin) may be heading to Grand Rapids for a conditioning stint.
“We’ll decide tonight or tomorrow morning,” Holland said. “He’s getting close enough. We’re discussing ways of getting him up and running.”
The Griffins play Sunday and then again on Friday.
And Pleiness reports that Gustav Nyquist will play tonight:
Wings general manager Ken Holland said that Gustav Nyquist will be in the Wings’ lineup tonight against the Anaheim Ducks.
Still waiting to hear who’s out up front.

I grow more pessimistic RE Helm every day. In fact, I’ve stopped expecting him back.

I’m ready to go with a different kind of movement.. Screw Sammy and Bert and Jack Ass Mule.
I like the Killer.. I really do. But that dudes back is totally messed up.

Since they’re so quiet about it, Hockey Gods, please don’t let it be someone important…like Zata or Dangles or even Fils.

So it looks like we need a top 6 forward (like Babbles has probably been clamoring for) in addition to a top 4 d-man by the trade deadline. Nyquist isn’t it. Not yet at least. Christ.
The signings of Cola and Sammy look more and more retarded every day…and they looked pretty retarded to begin with.

Cola wasn’t that bad of a signing. He was playing good til he got hurt.
Yeah Yeah Yeah. Injury prone. He’s the Third defensemen that has hurt their shoulder.

I’m guessing that it’s Fil that’s out tonight due to his knee.

Could be worse. Could be the Senators and be without top players Spezza and the leagues top defenseman Karlsson who was done in by that felon Matt Cooke.
Missing Bert and Mule hurts badly since this team is small already and lacks grit. Three goal lead probably not safe with tonights active roster. Even Sammy out hurts because he too plays with a chip on his shoulder.
Is this game going to be blacked out? Time to seach the Internet for a free stream I guess.
Win or lose hope to see Perry’s face get clowned by Dats again or even better Tootoo.

Going to a Griffins game on March 8, hope there’s still someone there left to watch by then.
Yeah Yeah Yeah. Injury prone.
You can say yeah yeah yeah all you want, but when the defining stat of a players career is number of days on the IR, and then you sign him as a top 4 Dman you have to depend on, well the word desperation doesn’t even begin to cover it.

Gotta admit, with the history of injuries with Dats and Z it is very scary thinking that the team might be without one or both at some point during the season. Especially with how the wings luck has been.
