A small roof fire broke out Tuesday night at Detroit's Hockeytown Cafe.
Firefighters were working to contain the fire at the downtown restaurant. The restaurant's interior did not appear to have extensive damage, if anything.
There were no reports of injuries.
It is not clear if Hockeytown Cafe will be open Wednesday.
The HTC is a bit of a spiritual home for Wings fans., so this is indeed gnus, if only loosely so.
Update: Rut-roh, per Fox 2:
The Hockeytown Cafe in Detroit was on fire Tuesday night. Witnesses on the scene told us it started on the roof near the air conditioning unit.
Witnesses also saw a lot of water damage to the roof and the interior of the cafe.
The fire started around 10:00 p.m.
We have no reports of injuries.
Update #2: From the Free Press's Anne Zaniewski:
Detroit fire officials believe a fire that broke out late Tuesday at the popular Hockeytown Café bar on Woodward may have originated in a hood ventilation system in the kitchen.
“I think it was a grease fire,” said Fire Capt. John King.
Firefighters were called to the scene at about 10 p.m. The fire apparently was contained in the ventilation system, which goes up through the roof, King said.
It was not immediately known whether the building was occupied at the time the fire started or whether it could open for business Wednesday.
The extent of the fire, smoke or water damage was not yet clear. As firefighters were preparing to leave the scene late Tuesday, a thin sheen of water could be seen on part of the first floor.
