In-Person Hearing Offered To Cody McLeod By The NHL

via NHL.com,

Colorado Avalanche left wing Cody McLeod will have a hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety for a boarding incident during Thursday's game against the Detroit Red Wings at Pepsi Center.

McLeod was offered the opportunity for an in-person hearing as required by provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement for any suspension that can exceed five games.

At 2:13 of the first period, McLeod was assessed a five-minute major and a game misconduct for boarding Detroit's Niklas Kronwall.

Kronwall remained down and was taken from the ice on a stretcher. He did not return. After the game, the Red Wings announced Kronwall sustained a concussion and cuts to his right ear.

The following grounds are being considered for supplemental discipline: boarding. However, the Department of Player Safety retains the right to make adjustments to the infraction upon review.

He’s not technically a repeat offender, but he’s hit someone like this before and gotten off with a fine.

But what can one expect from a team coached by this head case?

At the end of the day:  It’s Cody McLeod.

Whatever happens isn’t going to matter, because McLeod is not important… even to the Avs.

In person hearing for McLeod….....expected.

.....Now, what about that jack-ass announcer for the avalanche?

Somewhere at NHL HQ their must be a department of douche baggery to speak to that guy??

2 or 3 games.

The Avs got out of it exactly what they wanted to get out of it: They hurt one of the Wings top players at the expense of some low-rent, marginal knuckledragger, they heated up a once-dead “rivalry,” and they sold a few more tickets.

@Down River Dan

That announce drives me crazy. What an idiot. Totally clueless. Was shocked there was even a penalty of any kind on the play.  Center Ice package reminds ya how awful some announcers are.

Douche Bags started up again at the beginning of 2nd period.  Mute served well on a warm night where one could hear Crickets.
