I don’t understand the Memorial Cup tournament format entirely, but Mantha’s Foreurs are down 2-1 to the Edmonton Oil Kings at the first intermission.  Mantha has no goals, no assists so far in the game.

This is honestly the first time I’ve seen VDO play and the whole team plays a game that looks like they’re not skating at all.

Yep, Mantha has not looked good tonight.  He doesnt seem to have any jump, and doesnt look like hes interested in creating much offense.  Injury?

I’m back and I see a 2-2 tie at the second intermission.

Neither does the rest of his teammates.  I don’t know if it’s exhaustion from the loss to Guelph or whatever, but it seems like they’re playing on fumes.

3-2 EDM at 5:46 of the third.

How VDO is still in this game when their legs scream, “I’m so tired.”

Dang, I wanted to play France.

Tempers flaring with 9:14 left in the third.  Scrums happening everywhere in front of the EDM net.  Refs say, “Let’s play 4-on-4.”

With 7:04 left to play, VDO only has one SOG in the third.

Mantha with VDO’s second SOG in the third.  No go.

Tied at 3 with 4:11 left in the third on VDO’s third SOG of the third period.

And we go to OT, the first of the tournament.

The tying goal was generated by a great forecheck play along the boards by Mantha.

Deja vu for Wings fans.  Announcers said, “Samuelsson [forward for EDM].  He might shoot it.”

Mantha looked strong on the PK.

I only caught the last half of the third period but Mantha was making things happen out there.  The team did look tired, but he was creating chances.
