That Nyquist guy has a future. Wonder where he’s been. Maybe someday he won’t need a roundtrip ticket from Grand Rapids.

Babcolland’ll send him back down to GR because he’s not quite ready to play, “...in a men’s league.”

You’re right, he’s the double saviour solution to all Detroit’s problems.

Or someone who has perspective earned by experience and applied without bias as an alternative to knee-jerky overreactions based on the past 5 minutes.

In his previous 40 regular season NHL games he had 4 goals and 9 assists.  In his 41st he had 2 goals.  Nyquist will most likely be a competent NHLer, but rolls must be slowed with regards to these giddy gesticulations after one game in 2014.

I honestly believe he might be the most exciting player we will see this year until Samuelsson gets his legs back

yep, still condescending

People are happy to see Nyquist finally make it up to the big club and to finally get a win.  Nothing more nothing less.

Now spend the rest of the night extricating that stick that is firmly lodged in your rectum, and then join the celebration in the morning.

Without bias.  That’s adorable.

God forbid you give even an iota of credit to the guy who stepped up and showed that he belongs in Detroit, huh?

You are the only person around who thinks he’s a failure if he doesn’t score 100 goals.

Or maybe you just need to stop fabricating these so-called rolls that are going too fats.

He scored a goal 17 seconds into his first game of the season.  It would be newsworthy for anyone to do it and it’s newsworthy for him to have done it.

End of story, Mr Unbiased.

On a side note, I’m impressed with how impressed you are with yourself. Kudos.

You won’t base it on the past 5 minutes. But you also won’t base it on recent history.

First 40 “Regular Season” Games: 4G, 13 pts
Every NHL Game Since (15 games): 4G, 7 pts

I guess scoring in the playoffs is harder and that’s why you don’t count it? Your experience misinformed you here. Despite what you pretend to hear, nobody is saying he’s the next Gretzky, but he improves the team and it’s pretty obvious he’s just getting started.

Yeah, and many of those games came in years’ past. At this point, he’s probably able to do more than 13 points in 40 games (or ~26 over 82).

How about you just grade him on his impact on the ice. He looked great out there. He’s one of our best skaters. He hangs on to the puck. He’s smart. He goes to the net.

And…...what we’ve been saying all along: He is most certainly better than a number of forwards on the current roster and therefore belongs here. When the team is struggling to score and there is a talented guy who can score playing in the minors while guys who were brought in above him do nothing, what do you expect the fans to say?

Enough with the oversimplified argument that he is either savior or not. He’s a really good hockey player that should be here and a guy who fans want here. Why does it have to be based so much on extremes (“he’s not going to be a superstar so the fans should just shut up” or “he’s not going to solve all the problems”)? He can’t just be a significant upgrade and that be good enough?

This is the worst situation that could have faced hihd and hihd handled it as expected. What a joker. Thanks everyone for pointing out the in one game Gus has doubled Sammy’s goal total. What I enjoyed most last night was having both Sammy and Gus on the ice to compare how they play. While I saw Sammy gliding casually, skating with little hustle and occasionally swiping his stick at an opposing player with the puck Gus was quick and speedy, engaging the opposition from close proximity and moving with passion like he wanted to play. What a great game.

Btw, helluva game by Datsyuk!

Nyquist is averaging more than a point a game for the last three seasons. Currently in the AHL, he has 21 points in 15 games.

I’m sure my observation of his ability to hit the back of the net is just my bias.

By those standards Sammy was a competent NHL’er. He had an amazing 6 goals and 10 assists in his first…...71 games.

I bet Gus has more points in his previous 20 NHL games than Sammy. Yet, there’s an abundance of Sammy gushing from a certain person…........

How about you just grade him on his impact on the ice.

HAHAHAHAHAH, All hinhd can do is read numbers and extrapolate nonsense.

When the team is struggling to score and there is a talented guy who can score playing in the minors while guys who were brought in above him do nothing, what do you expect the fans to say?

What ever hinhd wants us to say: Sammy’s a 30 goal scorer, The defensemen are terrible - especially that slouch Lashoff, The Wings need a mythical 1st line FA D-man, Sammy’s a God, Who want’s to have a Sammy three-way with us, Gus is a chump, Babcock and Holland are morons. Did I forget anything?

Why does it have to be based so much on extremes… It’s either one of two things: hihd can not process incremental changes or hihd believes the only way to get people’s attention is to be antagonistic, using extremes to make people notice.
