Griffins release details of opening night promotions

The Grand Rapids Griffins' PR department sent out a press release regarding the activites slated to take place at the home opener and Calder Cup banner-raising ceremony on Friday, October 18th:

Friday, Oct. 18, 2013 vs. Milwaukee Admirals
Opening Night presented by Huntington Bank

Time: 7 p.m. at Van Andel Arena (doors open early at 5:30 p.m.).

Be a part of history as the team celebrates its 2013 Calder Cup victory by raising its championship banner prior to the game.

Tickets Going Fast: As of noon on Oct. 10, fewer than 500 tickets remained for the home opener.

Video Board Debut: Witness the first event to utilize Van Andel Arena’s brand new south-end video board. This high-definition board is 698 square feet (approximately 15.5’ x 45’), with 405 square feet utilized for live game video (approximately 15.5’ x 26’). The old, standard-definition board, which was installed in 1999, was 164 square feet (approximately 15.5’ x 10.5’).

Necklace Giveaway: The first 5,000 fans will receive a commemorative LED glow necklace, courtesy of Huntington Bank.

$2 Dollar Beers and $2 Hot Dogs: Fans can enjoy $2 hot dogs and $2 domestic drafts from 5:30-8 p.m., while supplies last.
Calder Cup Jersey Auction: After the game, fans can bid on 30 home jerseys that were worn during both the Calder Cup Finals and the 2012-13 regular season.

Free Ride Friday on the Rapid: Ride the Rapid to and from any Friday game and enjoy complimentary fare by showing your ticket to the game. Visit ridetherapid.org for schedule information, routes and maps.

H&R Block College Night: College students can show their ID to purchase an upper bowl ticket for $13 (or $11 in advance at The Zone) and stop by the McFadden’s concourse table to receive a free pass to the post-game party at McFadden's.

Get in the D-ZONE: Every Friday night is a Griffins WGRD D-Zone night. Avoid the concession lines and get your $2 beers and $2 hot dogs served to you in your seats. Call (616) 774-4585 ext. 2 or visit griffinshockey.com/dzone to get your tickets today.
Post-Game Open Skate: Bring your skates to the rink and take to the ice for the post-game open skate.

About The Malik Report

The Malik Report is a destination for all things Red Wings-related. I offer biased, perhaps unprofessional-at-times and verbose coverage of my favorite team, their prospects and developmental affiliates. I've joined the Kukla's Korner family with five years of blogging under my belt, and I hope you'll find almost everything you need to follow your Red Wings at a place where all opinions are created equal and we're all friends, talking about hockey and the team we love to follow.
